A very fascinating reality as well as it is its history and tradition: Alpe di Siusi and Sciliar are known as protagonists of many ancient legends, that tell us stories about witches and magic. Thousands of legends talk about these mountains, about the ancient trials on witches but also they reflect a folklore and a language that are unique in the whole world.
Alpe di Siusi area
Castelrotto is a town situated in a magnificent landscape among meadows, woods, Dolomites’ peaks and large valleys. The huge spectrum of its natural beauties, its fascinating history, tradition and art together with hospitality and kindness of its people make this place an ideal place for holiday since more than 100 years.
Siusi, at 1004 m altitude, lies on a wavy and particularly sunny plateau at the foot of the Alpe di Siusi mountain and Sciliar’s massif. It’s famous for the rugged pinnacles of Santner and Euringer in the East in the middle of thick woods and large meadows and fields.
Looking to the north and west you see 3000 meter high covered with snow peaks. To the East you have the magnificent Natural Park of Sciliar – Catinaccio, that you can visit directly from Siusi.
Fiè by Sciliar lies in a panoramic and peaceful position, at the foot of the Sciliar massif. The town with its idyllic farm houses is very well known especially for its hay baths of a long tradition, for its gastronomic success and for its cultural center by the Presule Castle.
The lake of Fiè, natural bathing basin at the foot of Sciliar is considered to be one of the most beautiful in the whole South Tyrol. It has been awarded in 2009 by the Italian Organization “Legambiente” as being on the the cleanest lakes of Italy.
